What does "ufology" mean?

Etymologically, ufology is the discourse (or science) concerning with UFOs. We believe that such discourse (or science) produces a deep inclination towards knowledge that in the case of ufology is represented by such an absolute essence that it cannot be identified. In this sense we believe that if ufology doesn't adopt a critical attitude towards this inclination it results in an incomplete science.

What do you mean by "radical"?
Radical refers to something which is studied starting from its very basic principles. Only analyzing these principles we can reach such a deep level of criticism that makes the change possible. On the contrary, if the analysis is superficial, then the solutions will concern only the symptoms, not the essence of the disease. 'Literally, we define as "radical" everything which is concerned with the roots of the problem but which is also able to extirpate these roots if they decay and begin to make foul' (Riccardo D'Este).

What has politics got to do with ufology?
Ufology is based on an implicit political approach because criticizes the idea of the universe made in man's own image and likeness. If traditional ufology prefers to pass over this revolutionary point, a radical version of ufology must open the discussion upon this unavoidable political aspect.

Why do you promote the fight against Capitalism?
Because we believe that the capital is at the root of a system based on the exploitation of the environment, a system that uses institutions like economics, labor, control, spectacle in order to create inequalities and difference of conditions among Earth inhabitants. Actually, these institutions are merely a means of reproduction of the capital as a meta-living entity. The fight against Capitalism immediately turns into the fight to mine the foundations of an ideology which admits only one life form on Earth.

Why do you side against what you call "institutions of bourgeois ufology"?
Because we believe that these institutions have deliberately tried to remove the revolutionary content of ufology, making it fitting the requirements of Capitalism. Moreover, we believe such institutions evade the responsibility of an analysis of the everyday life. Ufology should be also criticism of Earth everyday life, otherwise it could create a dualistic separation between terrestrian and extra-terrestrian. Such a separation would deny that inclination towards knowledge which is typical of ufology.

Do you really believe extra-terrestrians exist?
We actually believe that extra-terrestrian life forms exist and it is possible to establish political relations with them in order to face the fight against the capital together. However, above all, we believe in the deeply revolutionary bent of this interfacing, independently from the existence of such life forms.

Is it possible that aliens have hostile purposes?
Radical ufology believes that, in order to be able of reaching Earth, possible extra-terrestrian life forms must have solved all such social contradictions typical of our planet. Warlike species still engaged with their own internal conflicts couldn't have created that level of social co-operation which is necessary to reach the development of technology which makes interplanetary trips possible.

Do you consider aliens as liberators?
Radical ufology doesn't expect anything, nor believe in any advent. Radical ufologists work for the sabotage of the capital system, independently from help and alliances with aliens. We believe that the disclosing of an eso-planetarian entity in the space of contradictions of our planet be a necessary requisite for every form of public contact. Only at that time we may hope for an interfacing with aliens which is able to give an acceleration to the transformation process of the existent.

What is the difference between Alien Dissident and Alien Nation?
First of all, it is a temporary heuristic distinction which is based on the quality of the contact and, above all, on the consideration of the subjectivities involved. In some way it is a simple distinction which is useful to explain the complex UFO phenomenology through logic means which are comprehensible for our terrestrian system. The Alien Nation is the alien confederation faithful to the principle of the minimum intervention in the terrestrian processes of growth (called "first directive"). The Alien Dissident is a faction of the same confederation which doesn't follow this directive.

What is "esoplanetarism"?
Esoplanetarism is the sensitiveness to the at maximum recognition of the other, of all the differences and the necessities of autodetermination of every subject or identity. Esoplanetarism is the attitude towards meditation about the terrestrian problems using post-terretrian keys of interpretation and forcing the rational logic into an interplanetarian dimension.

What do you mean by "autonomous contacting"?
Autonomous contacting is an autodetermination practice that refuses the delegation of the management of the political, scientific and psycho-sensitive result of an experience of contact to any terrestrian representation or to any ufological institution.

When did Radical Ufology originate?
The pioneers of the RU network met for the first time in 1990 during the italian student movement called "La Pantera" ("The Panther"). The basic ideas arose from the first informal discussions and in that occasion the definition of "radical ufology" was established. After a few years of occasional meetings and discussions, some people from all over Italy begun to think about a real network that today lives on regular exchanges, communication and meetings.

How many of you are there?
Radical ufology today counts supporters all over Italy. At the moment there is no information about the exact number and, mostly of all, there is no clear definition of a belonging condition. Groups who wants to join the network organizes themselves as they like, according to the autodetermination principle. As a matter of fact, organizations similar to ours join the RU network, too.

How can one give rise to a new radical ufology crew?
As you like. What matters is to voice a radical political ufological attitude and enter the network by pointing out the existence of your group to the closest existing group. There are no constraints on the minimum and the maximum number of participants. Even a single component can give rise to a group. RU groups may promote one or more activities, such as theoretic thoughts, ufological research, organization of events and production of pieces of work (objects, music, graphics, videos, multimedia, etc.) with strong capacity of endoplanetarian answer.

Can I join RU if I am a nazi?
Only as a biological structure your fucking organism would not like very much.

Is MIR the circulation means of RU?
No it isn't. MIR is the project for the realization of a magazine edited by Men in Red which is a group joining the network. The magazine MIR, consistently with its own editorial choices, wants to give public visibility to every group of radical ufologists who asks for this. Moreover, the magazine is interested in those cultural realities that show to have esoplanetarian attitudes.

When was MIR born?
MIR group was born in 1991 in a very informal way. During the 90's it evolved and became more concrete giving more and more visibility to its activity up to the realization of the first magazine about radical ufology in 1998.

Who pay you?
No-one does. MIR - and radical ufology in general - finances itself through the organization of joyful-political events often realized in social squats. The magazine gets money from its own selling. No one has ever provided money for us individually, except for our cultural engagement in the cultural economics of the epoch.

Why don't you adopt your "real" names?
We don't use our names because we don't believe they are necessary in order to give credibility to what we assert. We don't use our names because we don't believe in the responsibility principle. We don't use our names because we believe that General Registry Office is the first institution for control. Above all, we don't use our names because we want to put ourselves at the same level of the object we study: un-identified. (However, this is not a rule for MIR, nor for radical ufology in general.)

What must one do in order to join MIR?
For practical reasons the technical group of MIR is closed. Generally MIR co-operates with people coming from - and operating in - similar areas. One can join MIR only by following a political path which leads to a continuos confrontation with people already in the group.

What's the value of this questionnaire?
In this questionnaire all the questions are false but all the answers are true. They sounds so real that you cannot understand what a nice joke was trying to answer in a serious way. These questions have no importance.
